Hubert Rohde, age 84, of Ripon, passed away on Tuesday, Jan.11, 2011, at Ripon Medical Center in Ripon.

Hubert was born on April 2, 1926, at the home farm in Big Falls, Wis. to Adam and Ottelia (Pedde) Rohde. He attended Big Falls Grade School and Shawano High School, graduating in 1944. He entered the United States Air Force Cadet Program in July of 1944 and was discharged April of 1946. Hubert attended La Crosse State Teacher’s College and graduated with a bachelors degree. He went on to get his masters degree from the University of Iowa. On Aug. 13, 1949, he married Betty Eimermann. Hubert taught school in Eagle Bend, Minn., Endeavor-Oxford, Lomira and Ripon. He retired in 1988, after teaching science for thirty-eight years. He also coached football, basketball, baseball and officiated in these sports. He was a member of American Legion Brown-Parfitt Post #43, Retired Teachers Association, Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon and Ripon Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty of Ripon; children, Rolan (Mary) Rohde of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Ann (Doug) Semenske of La Grange Park, Ill., James (Barb) Rohde of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Ellen (Ken) Cerney of Merrill, Wis. and Carol (Glenn) Pederson of Mt. Prospect, Ill.; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Aaron Semenske; and seven brothers.

Visitation for Hubert Rohde will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon and again on Saturday, Jan. 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Dr. Ripon.

Funeral Service for Hubert Rohde will be held on Saturday, Jan 15, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon. The Rev. Dennis Meier will officiate. Interment will take place at Garden of the Cross in Ripon. Memorials may be given to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or Aaron Semenske Scholarship, 3310 Park Ave. Brookfield, IL 60513.
